Kaptens, we have super cool news for you! In cooperation with fashion and lifestyle blogger Ana Johnson, we have created the exclusive Capsule Collection Alesund by anajohnson, which you can find in our online shop as well as in our Kapten stores starting December 6th! Based on her young, urban lifestyle and inspired by her many travels, Ana designed two super stylish backpacks, which can be perfectly combined to casual as well as elegant outfits and make every fashion lover's heart race! And to make sure that you always have the perfect companion by your side for every occasion, the Capsule Collection exclusive backpack comes in two sizes, and you can decide for yourself which version is best for your adventures! It doesn't matter if you decide on the anajohnson Alesund or the Alesund Small - with these two "it-pieces" you'll attract everyone's attention!
So that you can of course experience the two backpacks in action, Ana took the two jewels with her on her trip to Iceland and let us share some of her most beautiful moments! In keeping with this, we thought about taking you a little further into the land of ice and fire and putting together a little travel guide, which of course is also based on Ana' s Iceland road trip! So if you've always dreamed of a trip to Iceland, and want to experience the magic of the northern lights, glaciers and waterfalls up close, let yourself be inspired by this Island Travel Guide and join us on a journey through one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
Since most international airlines land at Reykjavik airport, you should start your Iceland adventure with a short stay in the Icelandic capital! From architectural masterpieces to fantastic food and a super cool party scene, Reykjavik has so much to offer that it should not be missed from any Island bucket list! One of the coolest highlights of the city is the Hallgrimskirche, which not only has a very special appearance, but also offers you the unique opportunity to experience Reykjavik from above! The "Hallgrimskirkja" tower is open to the public and offers every high-altitude visitor a breathtaking view over the Icelandic capital!
When it slowly gets dark, however, you should also visit the Harpa Concert House! The glass façade of this magnificent building reflects and mimics the thousand colors of the Icelandic sky, and makes the view of the concert hall alone an absolute spectacle! So if you want to start your journey in Reykjavik directly with a few wow moments, and like to marvel at design and architectural art in a class of its own, don't miss a visit to these two building beauties! And even though Reykjavik is a relatively small city - with just 120,000 inhabitants - you can still be sure that there's always something going on! Because although the population is relatively small, 40% of the Icelanders live in Reykjavik alone! That's why you can of course expect a lot in terms of cuisine and nightlife and let yourself be inspired by the excellent cuisine and the exuberant parties during your stay! Especially in the summer months - when the sun hardly sets - the Reykjaviks like to celebrate into the morning hours and turn every night into day!
You see, Kaptens: For the start of your Iceland adventure, you couldn't choose a better place than Reykjavik, and you shouldn't miss the opportunity to spend a few exciting days in the northernmost capital of Europe!
There are many waterfalls in Iceland. But the Seljalandsfoss is definitely one of the most beautiful and popular in the whole country! At a height of 66 meters, the water plunges down the mountain ridge in an almost perfect form and offers all waterfall lovers a breathtaking sight! What's especially cool is that you can marvel at the Seljalandsfoss from the "catch basin" of the gigantic waterfall and experience the plummeting water masses in it' full glory - goose bumps guaranteed, Kaptens! And that wasn't all! Because the waterfall offers yet another highlight, one which will definitely leave you speechless! The Seljalandsfoss is one of the few big waterfalls in the world where you can even walk behind the gigantic water wall and get the unique opportunity to marvel at the falling water from an incredible perspective! So be prepared for a sight of extravagance and a special moment you'll never forget!
Once your clothes have dried from expierencing the waterfall, you should head straight for Fjaoraglifur Canyon! With its spectacular gorge and picturesque rock formations, the canyon is one of the absolute top destinations in Iceland - and of course a fantastic backdrop for spectacular photos (see below)! Justin Bieber couldn't resist the beauty of the canyon with its 100 meter deep gorge and chose the breathtaking landscape as the location for one of his world famous music videos! Since this guest appearance in 2015, Fjaoraglifur Canyon can almost call itself a superstar among canyons, and is for many tourists one of the absolute highlights of their Iceland trip! But no matter if you are a (secret) Justin Bieber fan who wants to follow in the footsteps of the superstar or if you just want to admire the beauty of the Fjaoraglifur - a trip to one of the most beautiful canyons in the world has to be an integral part of your Iceland exploration tour!
Jökulsarlon Glacier & Diamond Beach
After you've absorbed the beauty of Fjaoraglifur Canyon (and of course taken some fantastic photos), you should continue your Island road trip towards Jökulsarlon! This Iceland highlight is not only one of the country's gigantic glacier lagoons, but also one of the most beautiful places in the world! The multiple layered ice covered lagoon due to its incredible beauty is one of the absolute MUST see lakes of the island and should therefore not be missing from your Island bucket list! But even in this spectacular place, theres one spectacular spot after the other. The Diamond Beach, which can be found directly on the opposite side of the Jökulsarlon, is really one of the absolute gems of the country! You won't find any real diamonds at Diamond Beach, but the crystal clear blocks of ice washed up on the black sand are in no way inferior to their valuable counterparts, and really live up to the name of the beach! In these two places you'll experience the beauty and wonders of nature in a very special way and you'll certainly be speechless!
We guarantee you Kaptens that these unique panoramas will exceed all your expectations and you will experience one of the most magical moments of your journey!
Aircraft wreck at the beach of Solheimasandur
If you're on your way back to Reykjavik, you can make a stop at one of Iceland's most mysterious places on your way home! In the middle of the deserted black beach "Solheimasandur" you'll find a 40-year-old plane wreck, the sight of which will take you straight to a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film! If you had told the crew more than 40 years ago (who survived the crash safely) that their wreck would one day be one of the most visited places in Iceland - they wouldn't have believed it! Marked by ice and snow, the old US Navy plane has been lying in exactly the same spot for more than 46 years now and with its skeleton-like remnants creates a scenario that will send a shiver down the spine of even the bravest of you! But the legendary place is not only a must for Sci-Fi fans, but really EVERYONE will not be able to get out of the traffic jam at the sight of the wreck! The fantastic contrast between the silvery-white aircraft and the black sandy beach provides the perfect backdrop for breathtaking photos and the mystical atmosphere is guaranteed to remain in your memory forever! If you want to explore a place that has become something very unique in different ways other than the many natural spectacles of the islands, don't miss out on a visit to the wrecked aircraft at Solheimasandur!
At minus temperatures in the outdoor pool sounds not quite so exciting for you? - Then you definitely haven't been to the Blue Lagoon yet! Because even if it's bitterly cold outside, you can take a bath in a class of its own at this fantastic place - also at a cuddly 37 to 42 degrees! Surrounded by an incredible backdrop of lava rock and dark green moss, you have the unique opportunity to dive into the milky blue shimmering water of the huge lake and enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape! But the Blue Lagoon also has more to offer than an exceptional location and a fantastic view - the mineral-rich water from the geothermal bath is also attributed with skin care and wound healing properties, which offer your skin the full pampering program! So it's no wonder that Iceland's largest hot spring has become one of the country's absolute favorite attractions, delighting tourists and locals every time they go for a swim!
Since the Blue Lagoon is also not far from Reykjavik, you can either plan your visit to the thermal spa right at the start of your trip or save it for the perfect (of course relaxing) end of your adventure! But no matter when you visit this unique "outdoor pool", you will still dream of this unique experience days later!
So Kaptens, we don't know what it looks like for you, but our backpacks are already packed and it's - next stop: Iceland! If you're tired of just admiring the fantastic landscapes in pictures and want to see the waterfalls, glaciers and lava fields in their natural state, grab one of your favorite travel buddies and make your way to this incredible land of ice and fire as fast as you can! We can promise you that you will experience a journey of unparalleled excitement and that every corner of this extraordinary country will take your breath away! We are definitely super happy that Ana showed us some of the most beautiful places in Iceland through her trip, and we were able to give you some great Iceland travel tips! So, what are you waiting for, Kaptens? Stop the daily grind and dare to embark on a journey full of magical adventures!
