There are many places of interest in Berlin - but the "Brandenburger Tor" is without a doubt one of the most important landmarks of the city or perhaps even in Germany. To this day, the more than 200-year-old building is regarded as THE symbol of German reunification and is therefore an important part of the city's history. The "Brandenburger Tor" has a lot to offer not only just historically, but also the sight of the city gate alone is definitely worth a visit! Whether during the day or at night - when the gate at "Pariser Platz" is illuminated from all sides, the magnificent building is simply an absolute eye-catcher and provides the perfect backdrop for your Instagram photos! Only a few minutes walk away you will find the Reichstag, the promenade "Unter den Linden" and the Victory Column. So if you've planned a little exploration trip for the day anyway, then start at the "Brandenburger Tor" and conquer the rest of the city from here!
As already mentioned, the "Reichstag" building is only a stone's throw away from the "Brandenburger Tor". Already after a short walk you arrive at the dignified building, which is known as THE place of German politics and can be seen from far away with its massive glass dome. Anyone who has ever wanted to get a taste of the political life, and would like to learn more about German politics and history should not miss a visit to the Reichstag! And for all those whose political interest is not quite so pronounced, the Reichstag also has another highlight up its sleeve: the viewing platform of the Reichstag dome. Here you have the unique opportunity to enjoy an incomparable view of the city and experience Berlin from above! However, it's best to register for a tour of the Reichstag some time before your visit so that you have one of the coveted tickets, and nothing gets between you and your trip into the world of politics!
# Checkpoint Charlie:
The former checkpoint of the then divided Berlin is today definitely one of the most visited places in the capital. Although there is hardly anything left of the original border crossing between East and West, Checkpoint Charlie is a place full of history! The monument is based on the original from the 60’s, and takes every visitor back to the time of the Cold War. If you don't want to just take a picture of the popular tourist attraction, but would like to relive the history of the checkpoint and the divided Berlin in a very special way then visit the exhibition "The Wall" by Yadegar Asisi! In the specially built, circular building at Checkpoint Charlie, you have the opportunity to marvel at a 900 square meter panorama of the wall that shows various scenes from the everyday life of the people behind the wall. Thanks to the true-to-the-original scale, you will gain an incredibly realistic impression of how life must have felt in the shadow of the wall, and how people lived at that time. Visitors will undoubtedly be offered an impressive and unique experience that no one will forget so quickly!
# East Side Gallery & Oberbaumbrücke:
There is not much left of the Berlin Wall, but at the border between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg you will find one of the last remaining sections. What is special about this is that the west side of the wall was painted shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall by a wide variety of artists from all over the world, and quickly transformed into an open-air gallery. The 1.3 km long section of the Wall, called "East Side Gallery", is known worldwide for its unique works of art and should definitely be on your Berlin To-Do list! So just grab a coffee at the kiosk, take a relaxed stroll past the open-air gallery and marvel at a different kind of art!
And if you're already near the Oberbaumbrücke anyway, you should definitely check out this other super photogenic spot as well! At the southern end of the East Side Gallery you'll find one of Berlin's most beautiful bridges, where you can take some fantastic photos directly from shore of the Spree, which will definitely have postcard potential!
# Museumsinsel & Berliner Dom:
Yes, we already know that a day full of museum visits doesn't necessarily sound like fun, but the Museum Island is still one of the top sights of the capital! Surrounded by the river Spree, you will find one of the most important museum complexes of the world, where one exciting museum follows the other! Even if you choose only one of the countless exhibitions, we guarantee that you will not regret it, and you will experience a very special journey into the world of history and culture! You can also combine your stay on the Museum Island directly with a visit to Berlin Cathedral, which is located right next to the "Altes Museum" and the Lustgarten. When you enter the cathedral, be prepared for a magnificent sight that will undoubtedly take your breath away and make every baroque lover's heart race! The entire cathedral is decorated with stucco, marble and golden accents, and the colorful mosaic windows bathe the cathedral in a stunning light. An additional highlight is that you can even climb into the dome of Berlin Cathedral and enjoy a fantastic view of the city. And as you would expect from a decent cathedral, you'll also find a royal crypt that houses the sarcophagi of the Berlin royal family. As you can see, the Berlin Cathedral has something to offer for everyone and that's exactly why it shouldn't be missing from any Berlin bucket list!

And as a little tip: If you want to visit some of the most important sights of the city in about one hour, just take the bus line 100 and enjoy a relaxed ride along the Victory Column, Bellevue Castle, the TV Tower and some other top sights of the city. No matter what you ultimately decide on, you'll definitely get a great impression of the metropolis and won't miss the important highlights of the capital!
Berlin is also an absolute frontrunner when it comes to the culinary arts! Just like the city and the people themselves, the culinary scene in the capital city is characterised by "multiculturalism" and creativity, and makes your mouth water! So if you're looking for some great food spots on your Berlin trip - where the Berlin hipsters go and hangout -then these restaurants and cafés are just perfect for you!

Whether for brunch, dinner or dessert - at the "HOSM" your taste buds will get a treat, and you'll feel like you've found a little bit of paradise in the middle of Berlin!

# Döner und Currywurst:
If you want to try real Berlin originals, then you can't miss the Currywurst and the Döner! Both dishes are totally 100% "Made in Berlin" and have been an integral part of Berlin's food culture for ages. Back in 1949 Herta Heuwer served the first Currywurst in her snack stand and also the Döner was sold at the beginning of the 70s for the first time! From then on, both dishes triggered a real boom and are still one of the favourite dishes amongst Germans today! Exactly for this reason it could happen, that you have to stand in a meters long queue at the most famous Currywurst and Döner stalls, such as "Kannopke's Imbiss", "Curry36"or "Mustafas Gemüse Kebab" and have to wait a really long time to get your "Made in Berlin" delicacies! But no matter how long it takes, a Berlin trip without enjoying an original Currywurst and a tasty Döner is definitely not the same!
