Travelling – one oft the best things life has to offer! Exploring different places and landscapes, getting to know other cultures, simply diving into a new world. There’s nothing more exciting to us and all these great experiences and memories will stay forever, nobody can take them away from you. There are still so many countries left on our list, but last time we decided to go to Greece where we haven’t been before. We’re especially fascinated by the Greek islands, so at the beginning of October our trip to Mykonos started.
The first thing we got to see after landing on Mykonos was an unimaginably beautiful sundowner. We watched it in the old harbour of Mykonos town and went to one of the great bars there afterwards. Mykonos is well known for its nightlife, but in october the party season is nearly over.
So in the evening/night it’s more chilly, but the atmosphere still was super nice. In our first night we stayed at the „Porto Mykonos“ Hotel since it’s located right next to the old harbour and Mykonos town so we didn’t have to go far in the night. If you’re also looking for a nice but cheap hotel near the town we can definitely recommend this one to you.
What to see
The town of Mykonos definitely is a big highlight and must-see! Narrow alleys, white houses, all these super cute shops and the typically patterned stone floor, colorful doors and stairs as far as the eye can see and the modest Greeks sitting in front of their shops – all these things build the unique charme of this little town. We were totally thrilled and almost spent a whole day there. We just strolled through the city without a map. That’s how you discover the most beautiful corners!
If you’re looking for a lunch snack we can definitely recommend a Souvlaki to go from „pepper“. Super delicious and also super cheap (only about 3€). What you also get to see a lot in Mykonos are little Cafes that offer waffles with different toppings. We’ve never tasted this before, so we had to! We went to „The Taste Diaries“ and absolutely loved the combination with peanut butter and cookie icecream. A real calorie bomb but anyway totally allowed during holidays, right?
The windmills and „Little Venice“
„Litte Venice“ and the three big windmills are two of the most well-known sights of the island. They are located next to each other and also right next to the town, so you can perfectly combine these sights with your city tour. That’s how we did it.
After our extensive exploring tour through the town we enjoyed a wonderful sundowner on the „Little Venice“ bank. Here you can also find lots of nice bars and restaurants which invite you to linger.
Beaches and beach clubs
Of course Mykonos is also known for its beautiful beaches. The best you can do is rent a car or a scooter to drive around the island and explore different beaches. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do this, but we’ll definitely do it next time. One beach we can recommend to you is Agios Stefanos beach.
There are free sunbeds, the beach is really nice and clean and not crowded. Actually we also wanted to go to one of Mykonos‘ great beach clubs, but the weather changed on our last two days and it was pretty stormy. Especially advisable are „Nammos“ and „Scorpios“.
Mikonos has lots of great boutique and spa hotels. We decided to stay at the Rocabella and Princess Hotels, which are located right next to each other and are only a few walking minutes away from Agios Stefanos beach. We totally loved both hotels! They have a perfect and calm location, excellent service/food and the hotel facilities and rooms were simply a dream. So we can definitely recommend both of them!
Su & Chris
We´re Su and Chris, 24 year old fashion loving twins from Cologne, Germany. We´re currently studying Business Administration, but our biggest passion, ever since we can remember, is fashion. Therefore we started this blog about 2 years ago to share the latest fashion trends, but always with our own kind of style.
1. If you have the choice – in which city / country would you love to live?
There are many great places where we’d love to live but if we have to pick one it would be Australia.
2. Is there any fashion trend which splits your taste? In general, do you share the same closet?
Regarding fashion, we totally possess the same taste! We fall in love with the same pieces and when a new trend pops up, we either love it or hate it both the same way! That’s why we share a huge closet by now.
3. What’s your favourite Kapten & Son product?
We love our watches from Kapten & Son! Our current favourite is the Campus Grey Vintage Leather in rosegold with white dial. On the one hand it gives a smart look through the Vintage touch, but on the other hand it also creates a cool and casual style.
