Ahoy my friends!
Before I jump straight into it and tell you about my favorite summer accessories that make you look stylish even when you’re at the beach, I want to introduce myself. My name is Steffi and since almost exactly three years I’ve been posting about fashion, trends, styling and beauty - mostly from Düsseldorf and the Ruhr region, my home - on my blog Véjà Du.
Although I was born a decade later, in my eyes, the 70s are the ultimate fashion decade and still extremely inspiring today. I think it’s so exciting to mix plateau sandals, flared pants etc. with classic pieces and current trends. I also adore the light French chic, feminine dresses and blazers as well as classics like leather jackets and cool boots.
My boyfriend Frank supports my work by taking pictures of my numerous outfits, which I share on my blog as inspiration. Another constant companion is our small Jack Russell terrier “Cinnamon”, who had a whole lot of fun at the beach in Vlissingen (Zeeland) in the Netherlands and didn’t want to miss the chance to introduce himself personally to all of you.
Holland is not too far away from us so you can reach the beach in around 3 hours, which is obviously fantastic and totally convenient for a weekend trip! Aside from my boyfriend, dog, bikini and beach towel, I also took along my silk maxi-dress as well as my current Summer & Beach Essentials 2017, which are the main part of this post.
One of the cool and convenient trends that I couldn’t pass up this year is wearing a bandana as a headband. Since it’s usually pretty windy near the ocean, a bandana is perfect to keep your hair in check and it just happens to also look stylish and chic. You can hide the loose ends of the cloth but don’t have to. Not everything has to be perfect all the time. I prefer mixing and matching various styles, like I did with this look by combining a rough oversized jean jacket to stay warm in the fresh sea breeze and the elegant white satin dress with the delicate straps.
What’s also indispensable during summer is a cool, fitting pair of sunglasses. Unfortunately, aviators don’t work on me at all, while round models that aren’t too large look great. That’s why one of my absolute favorites this summer is my round pair of sunglasses by Kapten & Son with the light-blue mirrored glass that just screams summertime! At the beginning, I wondered why I was getting such intense looks until I noticed that they everyone sees their reflection in my sunglasses and are just staring at themselves. Who knew that people were so vain…
Jokes aside, these sunglasses are certainly a super stylish eye-catcher! Since I also wear almost exclusively gold jewelry, the dainty golden frame of the glasses always matches the rest of my accessories perfectly – and my rose gold watch.
Of course, I don’t just wear my Kapten & Son watch throughout summer, although the rose gold color and white dial stand out even more against lightly tanned skin. What was it that my lovely aunt said about it? “What a nice watch! It’s so … it’s so on point.” How right she is, my sweet aunt! And so convenient too since the fine mesh strap can be altered individually and quickly to fit around the wrist. No extra gimmicks – thanks to the clean and elegant designs I am, quite literally, “always up-to-date”!
Going to the beach requires a beach bag, no question about it. After wearing colorful and pom-pom adorned bags last year and seeing straw bags in all kinds of variations making a comeback this year, I’m really into crocheting right now! For safety reasons, I stow my sunglasses case and smartphone in a separate pouch but otherwise this kind of bag is perfect for towels and sandals. That’s why this bag is one of my favorite accessories this summer and will surely also remain for those to come!
My friends, this already marks the end of my post. Which accessories are at the top of your list this summer? If you’re curious about more looks with my Kapten & Son sunglasses and the watch, you can obviously find more inspiration on my blog. For all of you that are fans of track pants and one-shoulder tops – the city look from Vlissingen is definitely a contrast to today’s beach outfit. I really hope that you enjoyed my post and my look and can’t wait to see you soon!
Have a wonderful day!

Steffi was born and raised in the German Ruhr region. She loves everything about fashion and the latest trends but most of all, she loves her boyfriend Frank who shots all her chic outfits and her Jack Russel Terrier called "Cinnamon".
In 2014 Steffi started to share her passion for fashion on a blog called "Véjà Du". We think that it is well worth a visit but take a look for yourself.
1. What’s the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe that you still like to wear?
I still have and wear my very first real leather jacket. Some things only create a story of their own as time goes by, for example my “The Who”-shirt from Camden Market in London. This shirt has it’s own story, might have already been part of multiple rock concerts before it even ended up in my wardrobe. I think that’s kind of cool!
Do you prefer summer or winter fashion?
That’s an easy one: summer fashion! I love just throwing on a dress in the morning and slipping into my sandals. Sure, there’s almost something to be said for winter, especially Christmas time is super cosy. But if there were only one month of cold weather so that I could wear my boots then, it would honestly be enough for me 😉
What’s your favorite Kapten & Son product?
Apart from my Maui Matt Black Blue Mirrored sunglasses, the rose gold Campina Mesh watch by Kapten & Son is one of my absolute favorite accessories. As my aunt recently said so fittingly, “the watch is so on point”. Especially since the light dial and the soft rose gold look beautiful against tanned skin and make it glow even more.
